1.) Cutting with a plotter

The STRIP PLATEŽ can also be cut on a fleet bed plotter, using a tangential knife. The cutting program is prepared from the outline plan of the diecutter in folding boxes. The height adjustment of the blade is important to make sure that the base is plate is not scored. The image of the coating work should be outlined on the STRIP PLATEŽ before cutting to allow for better control and to re-locate the interfaces.

To peel off the foil, cutting the light blue soft layer to a depth of approx. 80% is normally sufficient. To avoid scoring the base plate, use a spacer ring to keep the distance. These spacer are included with all plotters, but they are not always assembled. To prevent damage to the spot coating plate, the use of a spacer is absolutely necessary.

The plotter table is often not perfectly flat, causing cuts with irregular depth which may also score the base layer. In addition, make sure that the plate lies flat on the plotter table and that any air bubbles are squeezed out.
Make sure that the knife used to cut the STRIP PLATEŽ is as sharp as possible. Blunt knives result in ripping and unclean edges.

Stripping indications:
Our STRIP PLATEŽ 5 L and 13 KR sticks very strongly, making peeling off appear quite difficult. Reheating the plate will soften the adhesive will ease the pulling peeling. To do so, place the STRIP PLATEŽ on the plate heater with a maximum temperature setting of +45°C and peel off when heated. For the POLY plates you don't need a plate heater, it's easier to strip.

Length of the print area:
The length of the print area depends on the thickness the STRIP PLATEŽ and the calibre of the offset press cylinder. This variable size is between 0.2% in the thinnest plates and as much as 1.0% in the thickest spot coating plates. An accurate print length adjustment can be achieved with a curved light frame exposure or with a CAD plotter adjustment program. Normally, the length of the print area cannot be adjusted in the offset press, because a higher surface rotation speed caused by higher packing substrate will lead to ink rubbing off onto the plate.

Distortion factors

STRIP PLATE® 5 L

STRIP PLATE® 13 KR and POLY

< 720 x 1020 mm ~0,3%

< 720 x 1020 mm ~0,9%

<1250 x 1630 mm~0,2 - 0,25%

<1250 x 1630 mm ~0,7%

The above values are recommended; measurements must be taken to determine the exact foreshortening.
